Paul Jowett - (Head Teacher)

Elizabeth Burke - (Head of School, Princes Avenue Site) - Elizabeth gained her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from SUNY (State University of New York) Fredonia in 2001.  She moved to London in 2002 to work at Norfolk House School as a Form 2 teacher.  She later gained her Masters degree from the Institute Of Education in Literacy Learning and Literacy Difficulties.  Her career progressed to acquiring the role of Head of KS1 then Head of EYFS. In 2012 she became the Deputy Head Teacher of Norfolk House School and joined the team at Montessori House as their Head of School in 2014.

Infant Community

Claire Andrews (Infant Community Key Worker) has been working at Montessori House since 2011 working as a part-time Teaching Assistant on the first floor, before taking up a full-time post in the Infant Community as a Nursery Teacher. Claire also worked in another nursery before Montessori for two years and has an NVQ Level 3 qualification. Claire has a 16 year old daughter and is engaged to be married.

Hayley Cross (Infant Community Key Worker, Interim Afternoon Room Leader) has been working for Montessori House since 2006. Hayley has worked with ages six months to four years. Her roles have included Helper, Assistant and Room Leader. Hayley is NVQ Level 3 trained in childcare. She is passionate about the care and welfare of the children in her care. 

Emma Isitt (Infant Community Key Worker, NLT and Room Leader) joined the school in 2004 and started the Infant Community class of two to three year olds. She gained her NNEB and Royal Society of Health Diploma in 1983 and has several years of experience working with small children. Emma is married with three boys aged 24, 21 and 17. All her boys attended Montessori House, between 1992 and 2001. Emma loves all aspects of gardening and cooking and loves to travel with her family.

Lauren McCorkell (Infant Community Key Worker, Afternoon Room Leader) has an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Development. Lauren was a nanny for six years before joining Montessori House in 2005. Lauren has sailed halfway around the world in a Yacht race, climbed Kilimanjaro, run both the New York and London Marathons and several half-marathons too. Lauren loves animals and horse riding, scuba diving and enjoys taking on new challenges and being outdoors. Lauren is also a qualified reflexologist. Currently on Adoption Leave.

Jana Strausova (Infant Community Key Worker) joined the Montessori house in 2004 assisting in the Montessori Nursery before moving to the Infant Community. She is NVQ Level 3 qualified. Jana works full time in the Infants.

Montessori Nursery

Xenia Georgiou (Montessori Directress / Classroom Assistant) attended the AMI College in Hampstead and qualified as a Montessori Directress in 1999. In 2000 she started working at Montessori House, where she remained for a year. She then went on to work for the Hellenic School in Golders Green, where she was a manager for nine years. Xenia re-joined Montessori House in September 2013, working alongside Mrs Kent. In her spare time Xenia likes to travel and enjoys theatre, dancing, sewing, socialising and keeping up with the latest fashion news.

Deepika Ghosh (Montessori Directress) started with Montessori House in September 2013 after acquiring her AMI International Diploma (3 to 6 years) at the Maria Montessori Institute in Hampstead. Prior to this, Deepika worked in banking. Having worked for several multi-national banks, Deepika consciously decided to change career paths, which has been very gratifying. Deepika enjoys spending time with the children, learning and exploring together. In her spare time Deepika enjoys reading, the cinema and is passionate about the theatre. Happily married, she loves to spend time with her seven year old son, exploring the quirky side of London.

Emma Howden (Montessori Directress) graduated with an honours degree in English and worked in management consultancy until she had her two children. After the wonderful experience her children had at a Montessori pre-school she re-trained for a career that better fitted around her family. She gained her MCI International Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy (birth to seven years) in 2013 via distance learning; studying and working in two settings in Yorkshire. Emma is committed to early years teaching, believing that harnessing children's early insatiable curiosity is key to preparing them for lifelong learning. In her spare time she enjoys baking, sewing, foreign-language films and spending time with her family.

Ruby Kaur (Montessori Directress) graduated from Delhi University in History with Honours. She was lucky enough to work at D.P.S International (Reception Class) in Singapore for two years and completed her studies in early childhood. Ruby loves the inquisitive minds of young children, asking questions and finding their place in the world around them. The multicultural aspect of the school has taught Ruby about the different cultures and traditions of the children without leaving the classroom. She enjoys playing a variety of sports, including tennis, badminton, squash and cricket. Ruby loves to travel around the world, learning in the process.

Melike Northend (Classroom Assistant) qualified in 2014 as a Level 2 Montessori Assistant and holds an NVQ Level 2 Assistant Certificate. Melike studied Public Relations in Turkey and worked as a nanny for several years in the UK. Melike has worked in a Nursery setting for five years. She is married, with a seven year old son. Her hobbies are reading, walking, gardening and cooking.
