Lovely Autumn Days

Posted on October 03 2014

Welcome to week 5 of the Autumn term
The Reception children and staff are settling in well and making the most of the lovely Autumn weather. We have also been discussing with the staff and children how to make the most of our garden and all that it has to offer! Plans include Autumn activities such as sweeping leaves and using wheel barrows and tools to tidy the garden.
The Montessori and Infant community children have settled with ease and are now enjoying the full range of activities on offer. The children are making friendships and gaining confidence in their new setting. The staff are delighted with the ease of this transition this year!
The Montessori all day children have begun their woodwork project for this half term! This has been met with great excitement from the children and terror by the parents!!  (Children and real tools!!) – I remember last year one mum mentioned she felt she had the only 4 year old who knew what to do with a hacksaw!
The project is to create an “Initial from sanded wood and to learn how to hammer in nails around the shape of their initial. The Initial will then be bound with wool or ribbon ! I hope you will enjoy and treasure these as much as we do!
