Nursery Children learn about the life cycle of a butterfly

Posted on June 19 2015

This term the Nursery children learned about the life cycle of a butterfly. They have had the opportunity to watch the caterpillars eating and growing really fast and then turning into chrysalides. They are now watching the chrysalides and waiting for them to turn into beautiful butterflies. They can’t wait to release the butterflies in the garden. The children are now aware that the butterflies that emerge will then lay more eggs and the life cycle will start all over again.

The Nursery children have also read books about the life cycle of butterflies, drew pictures, did finger printing to produce baby caterpillars and made collage butterflies and decorated their classrooms. This was a great way to start a beautiful Summer term
