French

On Thursday afternoons in the Nursery we are learning about French.  We have been enjoying a truly catchy song about colours and some of our older children are already showing encouraging retention of this vocabulary.  We are going to combine this vocabulary learning with information about other aspects of French culture.  In week 3 we looked at Monet.  The children explored how different his paintings look close up compared to viewing them at a distance.  We produced some beautiful art inspired by Monet’s Water Lillies and the Japanese bridge.  While we were working we listened to some music by Debussey.  It was a very tactile experience as the children used their fingers to paint onto a piece of paper that had the bridge blocked out in masking tape.  Now that the tape has been removed we can see the results of their work.
