Last Wednesday morning, the Princes Avenue children were delighted to observe a beautiful Diwali presentation by Mrs Kaur and Mrs Ghosh. During the presentation they were told the story of Diwali by both teachers and learned that it is a Hindu festival that is celebrated all over the world. The word Diwali means rows of lighted diyas (lamps). There was a puppet show presented by the Montessori teachers to accompany Mrs Ghosh’s story of Diwali. She introduced the main characters of the Diwali story who were Sita, the beautiful princess, Rama, the handsome and courageous prince and the evil Ravana who was trying to separate them from being together. All the children listened to the story and watched the puppet show with great interest and amazement. They also had a chance to try out a very tasty Indian semolina dessert which was made by Mrs Northend and Mrs Kent.
