Infant Community

Posted on January 16 2015

In the Infant community the topic for the next few weeks is Winter. We will be talking all about winter and the language associated with winter, the cold, ice, frost and hopefully snow! This will help with the children's communication and language skills.

We will also be encouraging the children to learn to put on their own hats and gloves, so as to wrap up warm before going to play in the garden. Once in the garden we will encourage the children to do activities to keep warm - this week we will be kicking a ball and chasing after it. Followed by running in groups to different points in the garden. This helps with our physical development, our gross motor skills and our co-ordination. If it snows we will be building a snowman!

In the classroom we will be listening to winter stories - the Snowman in a group and individually.

For our art we will be continuing the snowman theme by painting inside the outlines of a snowman and then painting the eyes, nose and buttons. After everyone has painted a snowman, we will be printing snowflakes. This helps with our fine motor skills and social development, learning to wait for our turn and following instructions
