Infant Community

Posted on February 03 2017

For the past few weeks the Infant Community have been working on colours. We have been looking at red, green, blue and yellow. They have all had a go at painting apples red and green, and  bananas yellow. The group have been learning to recognise these colours and to name them correctly.

During group time, the children have played a game using colours. They were shown an object of one of the four colours, asked to name the colour, then asked to go and try to find another object of the same colour around the classroom. They all thoroughly enjoyed this activity, and most seem to know which colour is which. With some of the children that know their colours well, we have moved onto recognising other colours such as orange, purple, pink, white and black.

In the garden they been playing with the coloured hoops, rolling them and chasing after them. As a group they played jumping into different coloured hoops when asked. This activity helps social interaction and communication, as well as gross motor skills.
