Infant Community

Posted on December 12 2014

On the 17th November, the Infant Community took the Monday children for a visit to Highgate Woods. This was to explore Autumn in the wood, and collect leaves for our Autumn pictures. The children walked all the way to the woods and back from school, holding onto a teachers hand. This helped with their gross motor skills, and communication and language by being able to follow instructions.

The exploration of the woods lead to lots of discoveries, including some rather sleepy mini beasts and some very wet bugs!! The children took it all in their stride and experienced a very hands on and tactile event. This was the first time the Infant Community has had an outing and it was a great success with children articulating their experiences on return to school.

The experience has also enhanced the awareness of the school garden and all it has to offer and the children have noticed much more since their trip!
