Infant Community

The Infant Community has been looking at ‘musical instruments’ as their topic. They have begun by using their fine motor skills finger painting pictures of musical instruments and colouring them, as well as learning to recognise and name different instruments - triangle, drum, maracas, xylophone and castanets, and lots of others.

They have been listening to different types of music from classical to nursery rhymes. As a group they have been playing with musical instruments together, which has resulted in a very noisy class with lots of banging of drums and shaking of bells!

For Expressive, Art and Design, they have been making ' rain makers' to take home, which was rather appropriate as it was pouring with rain outside! They have filled them with plastic beads using a funnel and then decorated them with coloured shapes, and then enjoyed listening to them as they turned them over.
