Christmas Decorations

Posted on December 12 2014

The children on the first floor have been busy making Christmas decorations for our school Christmas tree, Christmas cards and lots of free collages. The children have been consolidating their skills over this term to produce some lovely items to take home and display in school. An example of these are the Christmas bells that the children have created from old yoghurt pots and then painted and added lots of glitter!

We have been rehearsing our Christmas concert ( which was a huge success and well attended today by our parents and families!), reading Christmas stories(both of the Nativity and others around reindeer and children around the world and their experiences)  and enjoying a lovely atmosphere enhancing the spirituality of this time of the year. This has reinforced the topic area of Christmas which has been part of our Cultural celebrations this term.

The top floor montessori children have been also decorating their classroom with all their art and craft.
Children have made paper chains, reindeer collages, stars and  Christmas tree collages. This has consolidated their cutting and gluing skills but also lead to the classroom looking so beautiful; the children are very proud of their work!

Some of the decorations were to be used to prepare Santa’s grotto for when he visited on the 10th - Santa was very impressed with all the children’s hard work!
