About Montessori House

Montessori House first opened in Muswell Hill in 1984 in the home of the founding principal, educating children aged two to five years old.

The school then moved to its current premises in April 1990, enabling expansion in numbers and age range. This move was made possible by the commitment of parents and the starting of the deposit scheme.

In 2013 Montessori House was acquired by Bellevue Education and merged with local independent primary school, Norfolk House. Montessori House continues to provide exceptional care and education in the Montessori and pre-Montessori style to children aged two to four, with children progressing naturally on to Norfolk House School, whose Reception and Form 1 classes are also based on the Princes Avenue site. Following this, children progress on to our Muswell Avenue site where they can stay until the age of 11.

"Both of my two children attended the Montessori House. They are both very different characters and each thrived in their own way. The atmosphere is calm and the staff are incredibly committed to ensuring children are both happy, settled and keen to master new skills."
